Linda Heuman is a journalist and a visiting scholar in the Department of Religious Studies at Brown University, where she is also affiliated with the Program in Science and Technology Studies and the Contemplative Studies Initiative. She recently finished a two year John Templeton Foundation journalism fellowship in science, religion, and Buddhism. This project—a series of essays and interviews published in the Buddhist magazine Tricycle—brought Western Buddhist readers into new conversation with scholars of the humanities and social sciences who are critiquing background assumptions of science, secularism, and modernity. Her articles, essays, and reviews have appeared in Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, Penguin’s Best Spiritual Writing, Buddhadharma, Stanford Magazine, Brown Alumni Magazine, Plenty, and The Industry Standard and have been published in German in Buddhismus aktuell.
